2009

Boehringer Ingelheim Pty Ltd Australia proudly sponsors this COPD Research Fellowship.

The research must relate to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Relevant domains of research inquiry range from a focus on basic science through issues of management in the context of a clinician-patient interaction to system level issues to do with the organisation, financing and performance of the health system. All inquiry is aimed at developing and/or delivering optimal care to people with COPD.

The Australian Lung Foundation (ALF) invites applications from medical and scientific graduates who will be resident in Australia throughout the period of the research programme. Applications are sought from disciplines as diverse as physiology, genetics, epidemiology, health economics or management in General Practice/primary health care settings. Applicants should be graduates who have completed, or are currently completing, advanced training or higher degree by thesis.

The Fellowship is available as either a one or two year award, with a value of Aus $75,000 per annum. The Education & Research Sub-Committee of the TSANZ will assess all applications. Some conditions will apply to the successful applicant in relation to reporting the research and publicising the award.

The recipient is required to submit a report to The Australian Lung Foundation at the end of 12 months and, if applicable, again at the end of two years in accordance with the award guidelines.

The Fellowship is intended to help enhance and enrich COPD research in Australia, and is tenable in conjunction with additional financial support.
