Australian Lung Foundation / Lung Cancer Consultative Group
2009 Undergraduate Grant-in-Aid
For Lung Cancer Research
This grant is valued at Aus$2,500 and is specifically designed to assist either a medical or allied health (including Nursing) undergraduate in undertaking a research project into lung cancer. The project can focus on any aspect of the disease and /or its management; however this should not be a systematic review as other awards are available for this.
It is envisaged that the project would be conducted during a designated undergraduate research elective period (or equivalent) or possibly as a component of a Bachelor of Medical Science degree. Suitable projects would include a clinical outcomes audit or a pilot study of a primary research question. The grant monies could be employed to assist with data collection or to offset other ancillary or personnel costs incurred throughout the period of the project.
The competitive grant is open to applications from undergraduate students of accredited medical or allied health schools throughout Australia and New Zealand. Applications should include a summary of the rationale for the project, its design, the expected dates of commencement and completion and whether or not ethics approval has been obtained. The name and contact details of the principal project supervisor should also be provided.
Applications will be assessed by the Education & Research Sub-Committee of TSANZ. The successful applicant will each be required to submit a progress report six (6) months into the project and a final report at the conclusion of the project. Monies will be paid on the basis of 75% at the time of signing documentation and the balance on acceptance of the final report.
The Australian Lung Foundation is to be advised of any publications arising from this award.
