Breathe Easy, Walk Easy:  Better lung health for rural and remote Australia

The following package and resources will be available online by Monday 5th January 2009   

Rural and Remote Lung Health Breathe Easy, Walk Easy provides health practitioners with the opportunity to disseminate their knowledge and skills of planning, developing and evaluating pulmonary rehabilitation programs through interactive and engaging workshops.

The Breathe Easy, Walk Easy rural and remote pulmonary rehabilitation train-the-trainer package supplies health practitioners with the resources to run effective and efficient education sessions for fellow workers. 

With the aid of this package you will be able to:

  • provide workshop participants with relevant information about COPD and bronchiectasis
  • guide effective management strategies, and
  • provide ongoing support for them through the development of effective exercise training programs.

This package has been developed based on The Australian Lung Foundation and the Australian Physiotherapy Association's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Toolkit.  Funding for this program has been provded through the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing's Rural Health Services Education and Training (RHSET) program.  Further funding for resource development was provided by the Rural Primary Health Section of the Australian Department of Health & Ageing.

This program has been developed in consultation with norther Australian remote primary and allied health care providers and has been piloted in workshops across the Northern Territory and the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
