Our Mission

The mission of the Australian Lung Foundation is to:

• Raise awareness of lung disease
• Promote lung health
• Provide advocacy, education and support services to those impacted by lung disease
• Provide resources to health professionals to assist in the management of lung disease 
• Facilitate and encourage medical research into lung disease

How are we doing this?

• Assisting patients, carers, health professionals and the general public around Australia through our Information and Support Centre (1800 654 301)
• Producing and distributing information brochures relating to lung disease, intervention strategies and management techniques
• Providing information on our website relating to lung disease, intervention strategies and management techniques
• Facilitating collaborative consultative groups for specific lung conditions that provide a forum for doctors, other health professionals and the community to consider leading lung health issues
• Facilitating lung disease patient / carer self-help support groups across Australia
• Assisting in the production of national medical guidelines for lung disease diagnosis, treatment and management
• Assisting clinical research through project administration and management services for Multi-centre Clinical Trials, including sourcing investigator sites, recruitment of patients and ethics support.
• Developing and managing targeted lung disease programs
• Advocacy campaigns that raise awareness of the impact of lung disease with government and corporate sectors.
• Public relations campaigns that raise awareness of both the indicators and impact of lung disease with the community and government.
• Raising community awareness of lung disease through events and patient education days
• Fundraising for research projects, research awards and Grants in Aid
• Establishing network links with other respiratory bodies in Australia and overseas.
• Hosting scientific conferences on the various areas of lung disease
• Developing disease specific case statements and FAQs.
